There God promised Abram that the families of the world would one day be blessed though his seed, and whereupon God changed Abram’s name to Abraham to reflect that reality.
Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. God chose Isaac as the seed of Abraham through whom the blessing would flow to the families of the world.
Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob. God chose Jacob to be the seed of Abraham through whom the blessing would flow to the families of the world, whereupon God changed Jacob’s name to Israel to reflect that reality.
Israel had twelve sons who became the nation of Israel. God chose Israel to be the seed nation through which the blessing of Abraham would flow to the families of the world.
From among the nation of Israel, God chose the tribe of Judah to be the seed vessel through which the blessing of Abraham would flow to the families of the world.
From the tribe of Judah, God chose David as the seed of Abraham through whom the families of the world would be blessed.
And, from the House of David, God brought forth Jesus as the seed of Abraham through whom the families of the world would be blessed.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
