Readers who have found Daniel Unsealed, my commentary on the Book of Daniel, to be edifying, have written urging me to publish a commentary on the Book of Revelation. However, my Bible research has not yielded any new insights about Revelation, so I have no plans for writing a commentary on the Book of Revelation at present.
Unfortunately, many of the internet sites that feature an interpretation are more akin to Hollywood than the Bible, with gory scenes of miscellaneous mayhem, driverless buses running off roads, and pilotless airplanes falling out of the sky. It may be good for scratching itching ears but I don’t think that approach honors the Word of God.
The Holy Spirit has impressed upon me that I am to write only about the things he has given me to understand through study and meditation on the biblical text and through seeking illumination through prayer, as I have done with my previously published books. I will continue to observe that restriction and pray that others will do so as well. It may be that I will be given an understanding of the meaning of the words and prophecies in Revelation for sharing with you and others in the future, but until then I can say nothing except what I could say from my own understanding alone, and that is not good enough.
Thus, until I am confident that the Holy Spirit has given me an understanding of the Book of Revelation for sharing with the church publicly, it is better to say nothing except to repeat what it says about itself: “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy aloud, and blessed are those who hear and obey the things written in it, because the time is near!” (Rev. 1:3)
